The Veterinarian (1v1) (H) - 9
Chapter 9 - Are you...drunk?
Shen An came back at four o'clock
in the afternoon.
When he arrived at the door of
the clinic, he thought of Bai Li's eyes widening in shock, and couldn't help
but curl his lips and laugh.
"Brother An." Tan
Yuanyuan had been looking forward for his return for a long time. When she saw
him coming back with a smile on his face, she immediately showed a confused
expression, "Didn't you...injure someone by mistake in a fight? You...why
are you happy?"
"Really?" He pursed his
lips.
"Yes!" Tan Yuanyuan was
very gossipy, "Why are you so happy? Oh, by the way, where is that girl?
How was the test at the hospital? Is there any problem?"
"No." Shen An passed
her and washed his hands first, then went into the office to change clothes and
put on a white coat, and then walked out to pick up the appointment form and
check it.
As expected, the client who made
an appointment in the afternoon did not come, and was rescheduled in the
evening.
He can't play badminton tonight.
Tan Yuanyuan put the golf clubs
in front of him, "Brother An, I washed your clubs."
"Thank you." Shen An
raised his head and glanced. The golf club was a little deformed. Looking at
the pole, he thought of Shen Guangde's face. He turned his head and stopped
looking, "Put it behind the office door for me."
"OK."
Miao Zhanpeng had just gotten out
of the lounge after catching up on less than two hours of sleep. He rubbed his
face, looked at Shen An and asked, "Brother An, who are those people
today?"
Shen An did not explain to them,
he only said that a group of gangsters took his golf club and accidentally
injured someone else. However, Miao Zhanpeng had met Shen Guangde and knew that
he was Shen An's father. He had also seen him come to the clinic and
shamelessly ask Shen An for money.
"Did you say they were gangsters?”
Tan Yuanyuan came back from the office and said to Shen An, as a matter of
fact, "The security here is so bad, there are gangsters all over the
streets."
Shen An didn't answer and said to
Miao Zhanpeng, "You should go home early. I will be on duty tonight."
His animal clinic is the only one
on this street and is open 24/7, for no other reason than to honor his
grandfather’s love and spirit.
For two hours, he was busy in the
clinic and laboratory, and only had a few bites of dinner. Those who made
appointments in the afternoon and those who suddenly came to his door in the
evening were all queuing up to wait for him.
Tan Yuanyuan was too embarrassed
to leave after the end of her shift, so she helped register until seven
o'clock, then packed her bag and left work.
After Shen An finished his work,
he returned to the office. As soon as he took a drink of water, his cell phone
rang. He glanced at it and answered it expressionlessly.
On the other end of the phone was
Hu San, the head of debt collection. As soon as he opened his mouth, he lazily
asked Shen An when he planned to pay back the five hundred thousand.
Shen An laughed mockingly,
"Everything has its source. If Shen Guangde owes you money, go to
him."
"Stop joking." Hu San
was laughing, but his voice was threatening, "He's disabled and has
nothing, let alone money, his trouser pockets are cleaner than his face. This
man has no money, so of course he has to ask his son for it. Isn’t this just
and natural? I don’t care if you don’t acknowledge me, the only thing that
matters is we get the money. Now that your father has no money, my people will
only focus on you in the future. If you don’t pay it back….don’t blame me for
the fall out. "
"Even if you find someone to
k*ll me today, I won't give you the money." Shen An's lips twitched
slightly with a very cold smile, "Don't bother with the useless threats.
Have you forgotten who I once was? I have as much connection as you do. It’s
never too late to go back to my old career.”
The dim streetlight fell on him,
casting a long shadow. He put out his cigarette and was about to return to the
clinic when he received a call.
"I heard that Hu San is
h*rassing you." The man on the other end of the phone laughed, "Come
out for a drink?"
Shen An did not refuse,
"Okay."
Shen An called Miao Zhanpeng and
waited for Miao Zhanpeng to arrive before taking a taxi to the bar.
He rarely stepped into this kind
of place. Ever since he took over the animal clinic, he had become very busy,
and he also deliberately allowed himself to slowly cut off the friendships and
connections he had in the past.
There were five or six people
sitting in the private room. In the middle was a bald man with a woman in his
arms. The lights in the private room were dim and only the curl of smoke could
be seen.
The moment Shen An opened the
door and came in from the outside, someone stood up on the sofa and diligently offered his
seat to him, "Brother An! Sit here!"
"It's hard to find a kid
like you." The bald man picked up a bottle of white wine on the table and
put it in front of Shen An, "I'll fine you a bottle, do you have any
objection?"
Shen An unbuttoned two buttons on
his collar, "Looking down on me?"
He took two more bottles from the
coffee table and put them in front of him, smiled at the bald head guy, "How
about this?”
The bald man laughed,
"That's enough!"
Shen An only drank a bottle of
white wine, and the bald man didn't let him drink anymore. When he told him about
Hu San, head of the debt collection, he reassured Shen An that he wouldn't let him go to his clinic to
cause trouble.
Shen An poured another glass of
red wine and clinked glasses with Bald Head, "Brother Wan, thank
you."
"Thank you, Shen An, I have
so many brothers, the only one I respect is you." Wan Jun was very
straightforward in front of the other brothers, "Others have no brains at
all. If only Shen Guangde wasn’t your father, that b*stard is dragging you down,
and you would have never walked the same path with us before..."
Shen An pulled his lips, picked
up the wine glass and knocked it gently on the table, "To my brother, to
you... before."
The others were probably used to
being scolded by Wan Jun, so they all stood up and clinked glasses with
laughter.
The woman in Wan Jun's arms kept
glancing at Shen An. He didn't know if Wan Jun noticed, but Shen An did. He
frowned and took a sip of wine, took out his cell phone and took a look.
WeChat is flooded with news
again.
He pressed his temples and
scrolled down to look down. The woman in the club sent a message asking him why
he didn't come today.
There was also a client from his
clinic that had an evening appointment who took s*xy lingerie photos and asked
him if they looked good.
Shen An expressionlessly closed
it, and the address book showed dozens of newly added friends.
The notes all said that pets
should be treated by doctors, and he agreed to them one by one.
Clicking to the end, he saw the
contact on his mobile phone: Bai Li.
She didn't add him, they only noted each other's phone numbers, so WeChat took it upon itself to
recommend her as a new friend.
He clicked to check. Her WeChat
name was very simple, just one word: Pear.
The avatar is a sunflower.
The personalized signature reads:
Grow towards the light.
After coming out of the bar, Shen
An got up and had one more drink at the door and dialed Bai Li's number.
No one picked up the first time.
He called again. It took a long
time before the other end picked up.
"Why didn't you add me on
WeChat?" he asked, his voice moistened by wine and becoming hoarse.
Bai Li’s nervous mind was a
little confused, "...Huh?"
Shen An chuckled, "Why didn't you add me on WeChat?"
The laughter coming through the
phone was so intoxicating that Bai Li’s ears felt hot and her heart was beating
restlessly. Her palms became sweaty and she whispered to the other end of the
phone: "...Are you...drunk?" ”
"I drank some wine."
The deep breathing came closer
through the phone, as if accompanied by warm breath passing through Bai Li’s
ears. Her entire face turned red, and the hand holding the phone trembled.
She heard his laugh whispering in
her ears.
"Don't worry, I haven’t called the wrong
person.”
