The Veterinarian (1v1) (H) - 8
Chapter 8 - My name is Shen An.
When Bai Li went in for brain CT scan, Shen An stood outside the CT room, watching her take off her hat, sunglasses, and mask through the viewing glass.
Without the protection of her
sunglasses, her eyes were extremely uneasy. She didn't dare to look around, she
just stared at the ground, her fingers hanging by her side, clenched tightly
into fists.
Her nose is small and round, and
her lips are beautifully pink.
Her long black hair was draped
behind her head, making her skin glowingly white. She bit her lip gently, her
black and white pupils showing clear sense of fear and anxiety, like a newborn
deer, attracting unwarranted affection.
"Your girlfriend is
fine." The doctor looked back at Shen An.
Shen An stared at Bai Li's face
and nodded unconsciously. By the time he realized what the doctor said, Bai Li
had already finished the CT scan.
She put on her hat and mask,
opened the door very lightly, kept her head lowered, and only dared to stare at
the ground with her eyes.
Not only was she afraid of the
hospital, she was also afraid of everyone around her.
Shen An walked up to her, pulled
down her hat, exposed her forehead, put his warm palm over it, brushed away her hair, and lowered his head to carefully examine the swollen bump.
Bai Li’s whole body froze, and
her hands unconsciously clenched into fists and hung at her sides.
"There’s no depressed skull
fracture, and no intracranial hemorrhage, but the swelling is relatively
large." After Shen An finished speaking, he put her hat back on, reached
out to clasp her forearm, and pulled her out, "The complete result will be
available in two hours. For the meantime, I’ll take you to apply a cold
compress.”
"...No, no need." Bai
Li's refusal was soft and weak. Seeing that Shen An didn't seem to hear her,
she raised her voice slightly, "...No... no need. I'm going home."
"Going home?" Shen An
turned his head. His facial features were extremely deep, his roots were
extremely high, and the bridge of his nose was extremely straight. Because of
his height, his eyes were slightly drooped, and his double eyelids had deep
creases.
He raised his arm to look at
his watch, then returned his gaze to Bai Li, and then said, "Okay, I'll take
you back."
Bai Li was stunned.
"No...no, I...I... can go
back by myself." She struggled for a long time before she could finish her
sentence.
"Phone number."
Shen An took out his phone and handed it to her, "If you have any
discomfort with your head in the future, you can contact me directly."
"...No need." Bai Li's
voice trembled.
Shen An looked at her quietly for
a moment and suddenly asked, "You keep rejecting me, why?"
Bai Li's heart was beating fast,
and the boiling water in her brain seemed to be exploding. Her whole body was
light-headed. She opened her mouth, but her words were incoherent,
"I...no, no, no need...I'm fine..."
"Give me your number."
Shen An pulled her to find a quiet place to stand, lowered his back and leaned closer,
"Speak louder."
Bai Li's whole body was burning
hot, and she reported the number with a trembling voice.
Through her sunglasses, she could
clearly see the man's smooth jawline, his Adam's apple rolling when he spoke,
and his thin... lips.
"This is my number, my name
is Shen An." Shen An dialed the number and heard the phone ringing in Bai
Li’s bag, then introduced himself, "Shen from Shenyang, An from
darkness."
Bai Li nervously took out her
phone, clicked on the missed call, and save his contact: Shen An.
"...Okay." She
whispered.
Shen An put away his phone, took
her forearm, "Let's go."
People were coming and going in
the hospital. They walked through the corridor again and headed towards the
elevator. There were still many people standing inside. Shen An entered and
pulled Bai Li to him. Before someone got off the elevator, he stretched out his
hand to protect her from getting in contact with others.
Bai Li’s heart was beating
wildly.
After leaving the hospital, he
still held her hand, holding her wrist firmly through the sweater. He pulled
her into the supermarket and found a chair for her to sit in the waiting area.
He went in and bought towels and ice.
While paying, Shen An received a
call from his gym club leader. It was the Mid-Autumn Festival and the badminton
club was planning to organize a dinner party. Many people suggested going out
for an outing. The route had been set for two days and one night. He called him
to ask if he would go.
"No." Shen An refused
bluntly, "Sorry, I don't have time."
The team leader probably guessed
that he would refuse, so he hung up the phone with a smile without saying
anything.
Shen An took the towel and
wrapped the ice cubes, walked to Bai Li and sat down, then took off her hat, her sunglasses, and gently placed the towel wrapped with ice cubes on
her swollen forehead.
Bai Li shrank from the cold and
looked at him uneasily.
Shen An was also looking at her.
When she suddenly turned her head to hide like a frightened kitten, he
stretched out his hand to hold her shoulders and warned in a low voice,
"Don't move."
"...I...can do it
myself." Her little hand trembled as she raised and lowered it, as if she
was worried about touching him, but could not touch the towel.
Shen An twitched the corners of
his lips and asked her, "Are you free on the weekend?"
"Ah?" Bai Li's eyes
widened, as if she didn't understand what he was talking about.
Shen An pushed the wet towel to
one side, and gently brushed her forehead with his slender fingers. He noticed
that her body was tense. He retracted his hand, looked at her nervous and
uneasy eyes, and suddenly smiled.
"As compensation for
accidentally injuring you, I can treat you to dinner."
Bai Li stuttered and refused,
"...No, no need."
Shen An nodded, "Okay, then
you can treat me to dinner."
Bai Li: "..."
