Chapter 74 - Not enough?

As the New Year was approaching, Bai Li received a call from her mother, asking her if she would return home this year. In the background, she could faintly hear her father yelling, "...I don't care if she doesn't come back! Why are you asking her for? Giving birth to this daughter is the same as never having given birth! The others go home once a year, but she thinks she’s better than us. She stays away for four or five years, so she might as well die outside!"

 

She shrank her neck, her eyes were red, and she was speechless while holding her phone. Her mother was still trying to persuade her, "Your dad is just drunk, and he actually misses you. Are you going home this year? Your eldest sister and the others will be coming home. I haven’t seen you for a long time…”

 

Bai Li didn't dare to speak out, fearing that her voice would sound like crying. She hung up the phone and sent a text message to her mother, saying she would go back this year.

 

It was cold in the morning, so Shen An would turn on the thermostat before leaving to make sure the whole room would be warm. 

 

Bai Li woke up early today and looked at the time. It was only nine o'clock.

 

She stayed in bed for a while, and then got up to pack a suitcase.

 

Going home meant staying for a few days. She had to buy gifts, prepare red envelopes, and bring a few changes of clothes. She went to the balcony to get clothes, and when she passed the cat's bed, she remembered Xiao Bai.

 

She glanced at Xiao Bai. The cat moss on its body had healed. It was taking a nap in the cat bad. When it saw her coming, he stretched lazily, crawled towards her feet, meowed and rubbed against her pants.

 

She touched its head and said, "I'm going home. Be good. You must obey Dr. Shen."

 

After washing up, she ate breakfast and told Dai Mei that she was going home. She planned to take a week off from taking projects, and spent the whole morning busy completing the previous PPT document.

 

When Shen An came home for his lunch, he saw the suitcase on the ground. He put his lunch on the table and went to the bedroom to take a look. Bai Li had just washed her hair and was sitting on a chair in the bedroom, drying her hair with a hair dryer. 

 

"Where are you going?" Shen An asked while standing at the door, vaguely guessing that she was probably going home for the New Year.

 

"I have to go home." Bai Li turned off the hair dryer and twisted the hair dryer's cord unconsciously with her fingers. "My mother called... and wanted me to go home. I agreed."

 

She would do this when she was nervous. Shen An sat down, picked up the towel on the side and wiped her hair, and asked in a low voice, "Should I go home with you?"

 

Bai Li's eyes widened and she looked at him a little helplessly, "You...you, come back with me?"

 

Shen An chuckled, "If you don't want them to meet me, don't let them see me. I just want to take you home and see you enter your house with my own eyes, okay?"

 

Bai Li's heart trembled, "I didn't... didn't mean that."

 

"Does that mean it's okay?" Shen An touched her face, and without waiting for her reaction, he stood up and walked out, "Then I'll start packing too."

 

Bai Li's mind was a mess. She chased and saw Shen An really packing his things. She was so anxious that she didn't know what to say. But when she saw Xiao Bai, she remembered and said to him, "But Xiao Bai…someone needs to take care of Xiao Bai.”

 

"Have you forgotten what I do?" Shen An walked up to Xiao Bai and scratched its chin, "I'll leave it at the clinic and someone will take care of it."

 

Bai Li blushed.

 

Shen An came out after washing his hands, packed a few clothes and put them on the sofa, then turned around and took out several boxes of condoms from the drawer in the bedroom. Bai Li couldn't help it anymore and called him with a blushing face, "Doctor Shen... …”

 

Shen An raised his eyebrows and asked deliberately, "Not enough?"

 

Bai Li’s fingertips trembled, and her ears were red, "I...l will only stay at home for a few days."

 

"So, how many days is it?" Shen An put down a box and looked up at her, "Is this enough?"

 

Bai Li covered her red face and rushed into the bedroom in shame.
