Chapter 72 - Why are you smiling?

Shen An took Bai Li out and went to the bun shop first.

 

The proprietress was setting up a barbecue stall in the evening and was greeting customers. When she saw him coming, before she could say anything, she saw the little girl he was holding.

 

"Aaaahhhhh!" The proprietress excitedly pushed the skewers into her husband's hands, found a towel to wipe her hands, and then came over to stare at Bai Li, praising as she watched, "She’s so beautiful!"

 

Bai Li didn't wear sunglasses, only a mask. She was wearing the white down Shen An bought at a custom shop before. The hat was bought by him as well. It was a cute white bear hat with two cute little ears.

 

"You told me a long time ago that you would bring her to me. What took you so long?" The owner patted Shen An's arm gently, complaining but with a smile on her face, "Today is a great time to finally meet you.”

 

Bai Li blushed and shrank back.

 

Shen An smiled and held the person in his arms, "Okay, you've seen her. We’re gonna go eat."

 

"Okay, okay, go ahead." The store owner smiled brightly and called Bai Li, "Girl, come here another day to eat steamed buns. You can have whatever fillings you want. I'll make them for you."

 

Bai Li thanked her quietly.

 

Shen An led her out a long way, but the landlady was still there waving to her and shouting, "I'll be waiting!"

 

Bai Li was a little overwhelmed by such enthusiasm. She twisted her fingers together nervously. Shen An held her shoulders and didn't turn around. He just raised his arm and waved in response.

 

After walking a hundred meters away, he turned his head and said to her, "She likes you very much."

 

Bai Li’s cheeks were a little red, she shrank her neck and said nothing.

 

Shen An helped her straighten and then led her to a narrow alley. Walking in, there was a century-old noodle shop. 

 

Shen An took her to the lobby and sat down, and ordered two portions of the signature beef noodles and two side dishes.

 

Both the waiter and the boss knew him. After greeting the waiter, the boss came out of the kitchen again. When he saw him, he smiled and said, "You haven't visited for a long time. Hey, since you have a girlfriend now. My treat! You can eat whatever you want." 

 

Shen An handed him a cigarette, and the two chatted casually for a few minutes. When the food was ready, they sat facing each other and Shen An wiped her chopsticks.

 

Bai Li took the chopsticks and thanked him. She was starving. She took off her mask and took a sip of the soup from the ladle. The soup was rich and delicious, and her taste buds seemed to be opened, and her appetite increased instantly.

 

"The shop is old but the food are amazing." Shen An put the side dishes in front of her and reached out to brush a strand of her hair, "Take off your coat, it's hot."

 

Bai Li shook her head.

 

The air conditioning was turned on in the store. Shen An took off his coat and was only wearing a white sweater. He put down his chopsticks, walked around to Bai Li, and helped her take off her coat.

 

Bai Li looked at him with red cheeks and said in a low voice, "I'm not hot."

 

"Then why is your face so red?" He touched her face with his index finger.

 

Bai Li bit her lip, the tips of her ears felt hot with embarrassment. Her coat was taken off, and she was left with only a white sweater, which was a couple's style with Shen An. Her hand holding the chopsticks trembled, she always felt that the people around her were all looking at her.

 

"Bai Li." Shen An sat next to her without leaving. He put his right hand on the table and looked at her with his face propped up. His voice was low and with a smile, "I want to eat beef."

 

Bai Li heard what he meant, and the warmth on her face deepened. Her fingers trembled and she could no longer hold the chopsticks. Shen An moved closer and said, "I want that piece."

 

She shrank her neck, blushed and abandoned all distracting thoughts, picked up the piece of beef with her chopsticks, turned around and fed it to him.

 

He held the beef in his mouth, but also bit her chopsticks.

 

Her heart trembled, and she said softly and helplessly, "Doctor Shen..."

 

Shen An finally let go and sat across from her with the beef in his mouth.

 

For the rest of the time, Bai Li's mind was filled with the scene just now. She finished eating the noodles with a red face. When she came out, she realized that the hall was filled with guests at some point.

 

And she didn't notice it.

 

Shen An led her out of the alley, and the cold wind of the cold night whizzed past her. She didn't feel cold, and the hand she was holding was warmed by the man's hand.

 

She raised the corners of her lips unconsciously.

 

Shen An turned around and saw that she was not wearing a mask. Her smile made the pear dimples on her cheeks grow faintly. She asked with a low smile, "Why are you smiling?"

 

Bai Li blushed and whispered, "Nothing."

 

She just suddenly felt that Dai Mei was right.

 

Falling in love is really an amazing thing.
