Chapter 30 - Take it off together! 

Shen An wears long sleeves even in summer.

 

Before the age of twenty-five, most of his clothes were black. After the age of twenty-five, his wardrobe was filled with pure white shirts paired with light-colored trousers.

 

When he was twenty-five years old, a lot of things happened. His grandfather passed away, and then he took over the animal clinic. Completely climbing out of that dirty ditch he was in.

 

It was not easy. He was the only one in the clinic, and all the people around him were gangsters. They tried their best to support him, but he just wanted to stay away from them and stand on his own two feet.

 

He had gone through a lot, but when he thought back on the past, he had no regrets about the things he had done to get to where he was.

 

The most painful memory was the day after his grandfather passed away. When he rushed back to the hospital, the nurse handed him a peeled orange, saying that his grandfather had peeled it and wanted to give it to him when he came back.

 

Every time Shen An recalled that scene, he would feel depressed for a long time. Nothing could relieve the pain in his heart.

 

He despises those who constantly bring up his past.

 

When Shen An walked to the stage, the male doctor wearing glasses took the microphone and asked: "It seems that our Dr. Shen is ready. Do you need help?"

 

Shen An reached out to take the microphone, "As far as I know, I was attending an animal medicine exchange meeting not a strip show."

 

This sentence caused many people in the audience to laugh.

 

"But everyone is very curious about you." The man with glasses asked with a smile, "Is Dr. Shen shy?"

 

"So if you want to watch someone take off their clothes, you just need to be curious. Doctor Liu, I'm also curious about you. Can you take off your clothes now?" Shen An asked mockingly.

 

The bespectacled man's expression froze, and someone shouted from below, "Take it off! Take it off together!"

 

In the end, it was the organizer who came on stage and held a lottery draw to divert the audience's attention.

 

After Shen An went to the bathroom, he came out to smoke against the sink. Dr. Liu saw him when he came out and was quite surprised, "Dr. Shen obviously had a chance to be in the limelight today, why did he give up such a good opportunity?"

 

Shen An took a few steps up to him, grabbed his collar and pressed him against the wall. The cigarette b*tt held between his two knuckles was directly in the middle of Dr. Lui's eyes. The ash that was about to fall almost burned his eyes. 

 

Dr. Liu was so frightened that he couldn't help but retreat, his calves shaking, "Shen An! What are you doing?!"

 

"I'm curious about Dr. Liu's eyes and want to see if they have been burned." Shen A let him go, smoked carelessly, blew the smoke on his face with his nose, and then slowly said: "I'm new here, and I like surprising people. If Dr. Lui wants, I can surprise you on so many ways whether you like it or not.”

 

Dr. Liu's legs were so scared that he shook his head and said, "I... I was kidding you."

 

Shen An put out the cigarette and went to the sink to wash his hands and dry them again. His voice was very cold and he said, "I can't take jokes. I ask Dr. Liu to be more careful in his words in the future."

 

After Shen An left, Dr. Liu dared to stretch out his hand to wipe the sweat from his forehead. Three male doctors walked out of the cubicle one after another. Some of them walked out without even washing their hands. Dr. Liu's face turned red and pale. He was so embarrassed to speak.

 

Shen An had already got in the car and left. He treated his former teacher to a meal. It was already 10:30 in the evening when he came out. After sending the teacher back, he took a taxi.

 

At five minutes past twelve, he stood at the door of Bai Li’s house.

 

He took out his cell phone and called her.

 

No one answered the call the first time, but Bai Li answered it the second time.

 

She seemed to have knocked something over, her movements were tense, and her breathing was very light.

 

Neither of them spoke, the voice-activated lights in the corridor went out, and Shen An finally spoke.

 

The voice is a little hoarse.

 

"Open the door."
